Children
We are one of the top firms in East Anglia for Children Law.
We act for -
• Children and adults where Social and Childrens' Services are involved and where children may be removed from their families.
• Children who need special long term plans such as Adoptions and Special Guardianship Orders
• Children in very difficult disputes between the parents over contact and residence;
• Foster carers
• Adopters
We act for and against Local Authorities.
We act for children and parents.
The general principle in children cases is that it is the child’s interest which is the most important factor. If the case goes to Court, the Judge wants to make the best decision for the child. To represent you requires very special skills and a lot of in depth knowledge about child development. We have both.
Our team is led by Raphael Silver and Ray Pritchard, both of whom are members of the Law Society’s Children’s Panel, Children Representative Accredited. We have a combined experience of over 40 years of doing this work.
Raphael and Ray are supported by two experienced legal executives and we are all supported by two very experienced legal secretaries.
We are often asked to represent children by the courts and by CAFCASS. We represent parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. We also act on behalf of local authorities. You can see that we have got experience of representing everyone who might be involved in the type of case you are concerned about.
Because most of our work is done away from the public eye, we can’t publish the big cases that we have dealt with. Raphael has provided training to Cambridge County Council Local Safeguarding Board on Child Protection; training for consultant paediatricians and has worked with Esther Rantzen of Childline on child protection issues.
The Children Department does legal aid, especially where Social & Children's Services are involved.
If you are worried about arrangements for contact (access) or residence for your children or child because you have split up with your partner, please visit the Divorce & Separation page.
"Professional as to expectations, timeline & fees. Did all the right things to achieve result whilst showing empathy and understanding 05.05.2010
